A Year in the life of Olivia, is a personal project that I have been working on with this extraordinary young woman Olivia Barr.
Olivia and I met when I became Olivias support person in July 2014, Olivia has cerebral palsy so needs a little bit of help with some things that she finds slightly challenging, however do not be fooled, this woman has more get up and go than alot of able bodied people I have met in my life time!
Olivia is passionate about life, about learning, and about creating, she has her own small business called Live Life Creatively - Olivia spends a lot of time making candles, and mosaics - she also loves her fitness, (which means she is helping me with mine too!!) she goes to Snap fitness and she also has a part time job dog walking (and is looking for more dogs to walk if you have a pooch at home that needs exercising while you are at work)
So - perfect match - I am pretty sure that when I came for my interview with Olivia, she never would have dreamed that she would get all of these photo shoots, and that I would suggest making a calendar all about her - who would think that right?! I mean - I personally don't know any other support worker/caregiver that is also a makeup artist and photographer - Jackpot Olivia - for both of us, I know I certainly didn't think that I would get the opportunity to make this calendar (a project that I have thought about doing for quite some time.. procrastinator..) with someone quite as cool as Olivia! So - as part of the care plan - we make plans together, we mull over the details of the themes, the locations, the hair styles, the makeup - the clothing, the props and we work towards making the images together.
We have been fortunate to have had some wonderful sponsors onboard who have supplied clothing for the shoots, who have given their time to create beautiful hair styles for Olivia, who have lent us beautiful jewellery, and who have taken time off work unpaid to be part of Olivias shoots (thanks Nathaniel - you awesome prince you!!)
We are currently at shoot number 7 - and looking forward to each and every shoot - here is a list of sponsors - or those who have been involved so far - please feel free to contact us, if you have any ideas on anything you might think would look amazing in a shoot with Olivia and that you would like to donate or sponsor.
The calendars will be for sale when they are finished - and some of the images may be made into individual cards, like the easter ones .
Thankyou so much to the following businesses who are onboard so far:
Rondah Siaki Shaskey - Nspyre Red Hair Boutique
Madam Butterflys Vintage Style Boutique
Riding for the Disabled
Have a great day - Selina & Olivia
