They are tiny, we dress them in little stretch and grows, which have tiny flip over mitten cuffs, just so we can turn them over their hands, to avoid their sharp nails scratching, while tiny fingers explore their faces.
They are learning to crawl, learning how to become steady on their feet, then - they are 1 - we have made it through the first year, we pat ourselves on the back we have survived and so have they - we all deserve a party - with a cake!!
The next few years feels like it takes a long time, untill the day they blow out their candles atop of the play dough cake, and head off from kindergarten to school... now we realise, just how fast 5 years has gone by, its scary, where did the time go?
There will be many milestones - over the next few years, while we are entrusted with these precious humans to raise - there will be first discos, first running races, there will be finishing primary school, starting intermediate, there will be best friends, blowing bubbles, learning to swim, parties, lots of parties, there will be the lots of cuddles, long nights staying up when they have a fever, there will be camping, fishing, the first scary day at a new high school, there will be first loves, first broken hearts, there will come a time, when they don't want to snuggle in the bed with you anymore, they don't want a bedtime story..... there will be a time, when they buy their fist car, move into their first flat - it all goes too fast - no one ever really tells you that - its something that you work out for yourself - after the first flat.. then - you spend time, looking - lingering, and remembering - about how fast it went, how many beautiful memories you created with this precious human if yours - and you are grateful for the photos, sometimes, you might just wish there were more.. more with you in them, more of your bond, of the years you have shared, can you tell, this is written by not a photographer - but a mother, who has experienced all of the firsts - Im happy to make sure you end up in more xx
